Wellblue L-PF601 – Key Features

The Wellblue Alkaline + Ionizing Water Filter Pitcher comes in green, orange, black, blue, and white.

But more importantly, it uses a 6-stage filter process that includes activated carbon, ion exchange resin, alkaline ceramic balls, far-infrared balls, natural mineral stone, and sediment filtration. This enables it to reduce copper, lead, chlorine, and other contaminants for drinking water that it both safer and with a better taste/odor.

Meanwhile, the pitcher increases water pH up to 10 + it adds healthy calcium, magnesium, and potassium to your water, as well as antioxidants for a low negative ORP (oxidation-reduction potential) between -100 and -300 mv. This supposedly enhances your energy levels and boosts the immune system (more on this below).

What’s more, the Wellblue alkaline ionizing pitcher has a 14.8-cup storage volume and an 8.5-cup filtered volume which is okay for family use.

Filters last around 6-8 weeks.

Wellblue Alkaline Ionizing Pitcher Pros

You might find this system appealing if you’re after an alkaline water pitcher. Advocates who believe in the health benefits of alkaline/ionized claim it:

  • Is more easily absorbable for improved hydration due to the water being micro-clustered.
  • Contains lower amounts of free radicals and high antioxidant properties fighting against cellular damage and premature aging among other things.

What Contaminants Are Being Removed?

This Wellblue pitcher reduces chlorine, lead, copper, and other water contaminants. The right filter media are being used but no specific reduction rates are provided.

Assembly and Filter Priming

There’s no information provided online about assembling and priming the Wellblue water pitcher. But usually, putting together a water filter pitcher and priming the filter element before installation is a quick and easy process that goes something like this:

Please consider these instructions as a general guideline. Always make sure to check and follow your user manual before getting started.
  1. Unpack all the different parts and pieces.
  2. Wash the jug, funnel, and lid.
  3. Submerge the filter element in water for 10 minutes or so.
  4. First install the inner funnel, then the filter element.
  5. Fill the pitcher with water and allow it to filter.
  6. Discard the first 2 or 3 pitchers before using the water.

Maintenance

Depending on your water quality, filters should be changed every 6-8 weeks. You should also test your water pH occasionally to ensure the filter is still ionizing.

You can simply follow the steps above for maintenance.

Wellblue Water Pitcher Cons

There are some things we don’t like about this filter pitcher.

  • Firstly, there’s a sore lack of vital information. There’s no information on warranty or filter replacement cost, no contaminant reduction rates, and no information on the claimed NSF certifications etc. This doesn’t exactly inspire a lot of confidence in the product.
  • Also, the pitcher is currently only available for wholesale.
  • The pitcher’s main selling point is being an alkaline pitcher and providing health benefits. However, claims that alkaline water is good for your health are not yet backed by science. Further research needs to be done on the matter.

Wellblue L-PF601 Review: Our Verdict + Best for

This Wellblue alkaline water pitcher is currently only available wholesale, so it’s not exactly a buying option. Wholesale aside, we wouldn’t recommend the Wellblue because there are better and more effective alkaline pitchers out there (by effective, we mean effective at removing contaminants). Since Wellblue left out a lot of vital information, we can’t really vouch for the pitcher’s contaminant reduction powers. However, if you don’t care about contaminant removal and only want alkaline drinking water, you could give it a shot. Other than that, we don’t recommend Wellblue.

The Seychelle Gen 2 Dual pH2O Water Filter Pitcher raises water pH up to 9.5 through mineralization. The pitcher purifies water using activated carbon and ion exchange resin – all independently tested against NSF standards 42 and 53. These are the reduction rates:

  • About 99% VOCs
  • About 98-99% PFOA/PFOS
  • 90.91% chlorine
  • About 90% arsenic
  • About 95% aluminum
  • 95-96% chromium
  • 93.5-96% lead
  • 98.6% fluoride
  • 97.7% nitrate
  • 85.5% nitrite

Not bad at all!

Furthermore, the Seychelle is easy to maintain, with a comfortable filter cartridge lifespan of 150 gallons. It’s made from non-BPA leaching plastic, and all cartridges are made in the USA.

Good points aside, the Seychelle has its shortcomings. Firstly, it has a short 90-day warranty. Annual maintenance is a bit pricey at $120-180. And then the filtered water capacity (8-cup) is a bit low and could be challenging for family use. There have also been some issues with the filter cartridges clogging sooner than expected.

Next on our list is the Clearly Filtered. It’s not an alkaline pitcher, but it retains its position as a premium model. It removes more than 300 contaminants in water, as confirmed by several third-party NSF tests (standards 42, 53, and 401). This amount of testing isn’t typical with water pitchers, and the Clearly Filtered truly went all out. It’s unsurprisingly more powerful than the Wellblue.

Contaminants removed here include chlorine, fluoride, chloramine, semi-volatile compounds, DBPs, arsenic, VOCs, chromium-6, pharmaceuticals, pesticides, PFAS, and many more.

The CF has a filter life of 4 months (100 gallons), a total storage of 17 cups, and a 10-cup filtered volume. There’s also a removable lid that makes refilling less of a hassle. The CF is made from 100% BPA-free material and built in the USA. It’s covered by a limited lifetime warranty and offers a 30-day satisfaction guarantee.

On the downside, it costs a lot more to purchase and maintain, plus there is no alkaline water (if you’re after that).

Bottom line: The Clearly Filtered Pitcher is our number one choice in terms of contaminant removal. Then Seychelle takes our number two spot. It’s our favorite alkaline water filter pitcher. We wouldn’t recommend the Wellblue over the Clearly Filtered or the Seychelle.
