The Seychelle Gen 2 Dual pH2O Pure Water Pitcher is an alkaline water pitcher designed to filter chlorinated tap water.
It has some promising features but also a few drawbacks.
Let’s analyze this pitcher to see if it truly meets your needs.
The Seychelle Gen 2 Dual pH2O Pure Water Pitcher is designed to be used on chlorinated municipal water.
It increases the alkalinity/pH of water through mineralization. As such, it is a genuine alkaline water pitcher.
The pitcher also filters the water using ion exchange resin and activated carbon media. Contaminant reduction rates are independently tested against NSF standards 42 and 53 with results that are quite impressive – more on this below.
The Seychelle pH2O water pitcher has a storage capacity of 8 cups or 64 oz and a filter life of 150 gallons. The pitcher’s materials are made from non-BPA leaching plastics, and the filters cartridges are made in the USA.
Last but not least, we have a 90-day warranty.
What are some of the advantages of the Seychelle Gen 2 Dual pH2O Pure Water Pitcher?
First, it filters up to 150 gallons per cartridge. This is really good.
But, of course, the filter’s main selling point is that it increases water pH to up to 9.5, so if you’re in need of alkaline drinking water, you’ll find it here. The filtration part is solid, too, with some contaminants being removed to more than 90% – like lead, nitrate, and PFOS.
Test results show that the Seychelle Gen 2 Dual pH2O pitcher removes these and a few other contaminants:

You can install this pitcher in a few easy steps. Here’s what to do:
Maintenance is as stress-free as you’d expect from a water filter pitcher. It costs around $120-180 yearly, though, to maintain this pitcher. This is more than with most of the competition.
Cleaning your pitcher is necessary, but you must remove the filters before cleaning. You can clean the plastic parts with mild liquid detergent, but never wash the filters with soap.
Here is a link to the official manual:
The Seychelle Gen 2 Dual pH2O Pure Water Pitcher has no official NSF certifications, but it was tested to NSF/ANSI standards 42 and 53 by Broward Testing Laboratory. You can find these reports on the official Seychelle website.
The Seychelle pitcher is called “Gen 2”, so it’s likely that it has an earlier product version. However, we can’t say for sure. What we know is that there are other Seychelle pitchers: There’s the Seychelle Radiological Water Pitcher and the Seychelle Gen 2 Dual Regular Water Pitcher.
There are some things we don’t like about this Seychelle pitcher.
Overall, we think we have a powerful pitcher here. The Seychelle Gen 2 Dual pH2O has undergone NSF testing with solid results (no official NSF certifications unfortunately). In our opinion, this pitcher is perfect for people who want cleaner and safer drinking water with many contaminants removed and increased water pH. All in all, it’s our #1 alkaline water filter pitcher.
We’ll compare the Seychelle Gen 2 Dual pH2O Pure Water Pitcher to two competitors: the Clearly Filtered Pitcher and Epic Pure/Nano pitchers (although these are NOT alkaline filter pitchers).
The Clearly Filtered Pitcher is an A-1 model. It has the most testing we’ve ever seen for a water filter pitcher, and results show that it removes more than 300 water contaminants – truly impressive. It was third-party tested against NSF standards 42, 53, and 401.
The CF pitcher (read the full review here) filters water using granular activated carbon and several proprietary filter media. Contaminants removed include lead, chromium-6, chlorine, pesticides, pharmaceuticals, DBPS, arsenic, chloramine, PFAS, radiologicals, fluoride, semi-volatile compounds, and VOCs.
Filters last around four months or 100 gallons — this is shorter than with Seychelle unless they clog prematurely. However, its total storage of 17 cups and 10 cups filtered volume is larger.
Refilling the Clearly Filtered Pitcher is quite easy, thanks to its removable lid. The pitcher is made with 100% BPA-free materials and manufactured in the USA.
It has a limited lifetime warranty and 30-day money-back guarantee — this knocks Seychelle’s 90-day warranty out of the water.
Costs are pretty much the same for both pitchers.
Now, the Epic Pure/Nano pitcher. This pitcher is leaning on the budget-friendly side, but it’s still pretty powerful. Epic Pure (review) is designed for fluoridated tap water with heavy metals, while Nano (review) handles microorganism-contaminated well water( think viruses, bacteria, and cysts). The Nano and Pure cartridges are interchangeable, so you can swap them as your water demands.
Epic pitchers work with a mix of filter media. One is activated carbon. The Nano also uses submicron filtration. This combination reduces over 200 water contaminants overall (confirmed by NSF testing against 42, 53, 401. Epic Nano is also tested against P231 for microorganisms).Epic pitchers remove nitrate, chloramine, fluoride, chlorine, hexavalent chromium, VOCs, mercury, lead, DBPs, PFOA, PFOS, sulfate, arsenic, pesticides, and more.
Filter life is a long 150 gallons, more than Clearly Filtered, but same as Seychelle.
Total storage is 14.8 cups — the Clearly Filtered is a bit larger, the Seychelle is smaller.
All Epic pitchers are made in the USA with BPA-free plastic and every purchase is entitled to a lifetime warranty and hassle-free return policy.
Epic has more in store: There’s the recycling program that lets you return four used filters for a free replacement filter. Epic also has special discounts for teachers, students, medical staff, first responders, military personnel, seniors, and employees and owners of non-profit organizations.
Our final verdict: The Clearly Filtered pitcher is our favorite pitcher. But if you’re on a lower budget, the Epic is an excellent replacement! However, if you’re set on an alkaline water pitcher, the Seychelle is the way to go!
